Each November, we celebrate Veterans Day in the United States. This holiday serves as a day to honor those who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. While Veterans Day is an important way to acknowledge the contributions of vets, we don’t have to limit ourselves to just one day of the year.
According to the Small Business Administration (SBA), more than 2.52 million businesses in the United States are owned by military veterans. These firms employ more than 5 million people and have receipts of $1.14 trillion. Even after leaving the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard, vets continue to give back to our country.
There are 58,478 veteran-owned businesses in New Jersey, and an additional 98,639 in Pennsylvania. These companies offer a wide range of products and services. With so many options to choose from, there is almost always a way to support veterans with every dollar that you spend.
At Bross & Frankel, we are proud to advocate for veterans. Our law firm is dedicated to helping vets with service-connected disabilities as they navigate the often complex Department of Veteran Affairs (VA) system. In putting together this guide, we hope that residents of both New Jersey and the greater Philadelphia area can find ways to support vets through their everyday purchases.
Construction, Renovations, & Architecture
If you need to build something, remodel, or simply need some work done around your house, there is probably a veteran-owned business for you. Many veterans pick up a range of skills while serving, including managing complicated projects. Their experience is often a tremendous asset when it comes to architecture, construction, and renovation projects.
Non-Profit Supporting Vets
We all have extra things around the house, and many of us put aside money to donate to charities each year. Why not give back to charities that support our nation’s heroes? By donating to these nonprofit organizations, you can not only help the vet that runs the group — but all veterans in our region.
